Abstract
Intestines of dog infested with Toxocara cans or Ancylostoma caninum were studied histologically and immunologically.
1. Gamma globulin in mucous exudates and tissue extracts of the infested intestines increased.
2. Slight hypersensitivity manifestation occur-red in the intestine of A. caninum infected, but ,not in the control animal.
3. A larger number of plasma cells were observed in small intestine than in the colon. The cells distributed only in villi layer, and not in submucosal and muscle layers.
4. A larger number of mast cells were distributed in the small intestine than in the colon. The cells were found in all layers of the intestine, but mostly in the surface layer of villi. and the submucosal layer.
5. Degradation of mast cells was observed downwards to the rectum of parasite infested sections.
6. Fluorescent antibody reaction appeared in the entire length of the intestine and in all layers of each section. The reaction was gene-rally more strong in the submucous layer of the lower sections. However, the reaction was. not correlated with the precipitin reaction in which all results were negative.
In conclusion, it is predicted that the dislodgement of successively infected parasites larvae is largely due to immunological responses by the antibody which is initiated by the previously infested parasites.
