Clinical Trial of "65-318" Iodide to Hookworm and Other Intestinal Nematodes

Abstract
|
|
|
A clinical trial on the effect of "65?318" Iodide against hookworm and other intestinal nematodes infections was carried out in Korea.
The results are summarized as follows;
1. A single dose treatment with 5. 0 mg, 7. 5 mg and 10.0 mg Iodide base per kg for 103 subjects infected with hookworm was applied respectively to evaluate the suitable dosage of the drug.
a. In the group treated with a single dose of 5.0 mg per kg, the cure rate was 38. 5% and the egg reduction rate was 61. 9%.
b. In the groups treated with a single dose of 7.5 mg per kg and 10. 0 mg per kg, the cure rates were 73.2% and 67. 6%, and the egg reduction rates were 92. 6% and 88. 1%, respectively.
c. In the groups treated with a single dose of 7. 5 mg per kg and of 5. 0 ing per kg, a few temporary mild nausea cases were recognized, though there were some cases complained mild temporary vomiting in the group treated with 10. 0 mg per kg.
2. On the effectiveness of a single dose of the drug, 7.5 mg/kg, against ascariasis and trichuriasis cases, the overall cure rate was around 30% and the egg reduction rate was about 60%.
3. For the enterobiasis and trichostrongyliasis cases, the cure and egg reduction rates were more than 70% by single dose, 7. 5 mg/kg, of the drug in both.
