Abstract
Four tablets (1 tablet, 500mg) of Ornidazole or Tinidazole were given to amoebic hepatic abscess cases in two divided doses in a day, restricting other antiamoebic drug during the trial. The cure was determined by clinical and laboratory findings. Six cases with Ornidazole and 5 cases with Tinidazole were successfully treated even-though one case among of each group required additional dose to speed up healing.
From the results obtained, it is shown that single day treatment with Ornidazole or Tinidazole in two divided does is effective in treating hepatic amoebic abscess when combined with pus aspiration.
