Praziquantel in the Treatment of Paragonimiasis

Abstract
|
|
|
Thirty one cases of Paragonimus westermani infection were treated with praziquantel with the dose of 25mgx3/kg bwt verum one day and same daily dose on two consecutive days.
1. Clinical complaints improved within one or two months, but some symptoms in heavy infection lasted as long as 3 months even by consecutive day treatment.
2. Parasitological egg negative in sputum was achieved by two day regimen, but not ali in one day treatment.
3. Radiologically, not all cases showed improvement, but two day regimen revealed more effective results than one day course so far in light and moderate infection.
