Cuvularia species on Onychomycosis
Abstract
Cuvularia species are a saprobic dematiaceous mold that resides primarily in soil. Human infection caused by this organism are rare but onychomycosis, keratits, sinustitis, disseminated infection, pneumonia, allergic bronchopulmonary disease, and
brain
abscess have been reported. Three of cuvularia species were isolated from the requested toe nails. And these organisms may be a pathogenic role in onychomycosis. These three cases are presented and literatures of mold onychomycosis and human
phaeohypomycosis caused by cuvularia spesies are reviewed.
