Propantheline on Pulse Rate
Abstract
1. The effects of oral administration of propanthellne (doses: 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90 mg) on pulse rate were investigated in healthy men.
2. The response of pulse rate to propantheline was not uniform: some reacted with decrease of pulse rate some with increase of the rate some with little change.
3. There was no relationship between the doses of propantheline and the nature of the response.
4. The nature of the response was significantly correlated with the control pulse rate (the rate before administration of the drug). The persons who showed increase of pulse rate were more in those with slow control rate, and decrease of the rate were more in those with rapid control rate. No correlation was found in persons who took 90 mg of propantheline.
