Abstract

|
An 8-year-old Korean boy, who complained swelling and ptosis of right upper eyelid and developed exophalmos for about 8 weeks, has been presented. The mass, which was grayish white, lobulate, rubbery cystic, and located in the superior oblique muscle, was totally removed.
Microscopic findings revealed an embryonal rhabdomyosaroma which was composed of spindle cells and strap cells or tadpole shaped cells with loose stroma. The nuclei were round, but irregular in size and shape, and markedly hyperchromatic and surrounded by eosinophilic cytoplasm. No definitive cross striation could be seen.
