Immunohistochemical Observation on the Secretory Component in the Mammary diseases
Abstract
To observe the reaction of the secretory component(SC) in the mammary diseases immunohistochemical. studies were carried out with 25 cases of carcinoma and 25 cases of benign diseases. The study consisted of 15 cases of the infiltrating ductal carcinoma, 5 cases of infiltrating colloid carcinoma, 10 cases of fibroadenoma and 15 cases of mammary dysplasia.
The results were as follows:
1. The weakly positive reactions of SC were observed only in about one half cases of infiltrating ductal. and colloid carcinoma, others were negative.
2. The weakly or moderately positive reactions of SC were noted in all cases of the fibroadenoma.
3. The reactions in the" mammary dysplasia were similar to those of the fibroadenoma.
4. Therefore, the rate of positive SC reaction was decreased in ductal carcinomas rather than that of
benign breast disease, suggesting dedifferentiation to the embryonal stage of carcinoma coils.
