Clinical Evaluation of Debrisoquin in Patients with High Blood-Pressure

Abstract
|
|
|
For the purpose of evaluating the antihypertensive effect of Debrisoquin, clinAcal observation were made in 22 cases of essential hypertension at the Severance Hospital from March to October 1973.
The following results were obtained,
1) -In Debrisoquin treatment, good -blood pressure control was achieved in 17 ,of 22 patients(77.3%), fair was 4(18.2%), and only 1 case was failed(4. 5%).
2) The side effects we had encountered during administration of Debrisoquin were dryness of mouth(11 cases, 50°0), postural 1izziness(6 cases, 27.3%) impotence(2 cases of 14 men, 14.3%), anorexia(1 case, 4.5%), general .weakness (1 case, 4.5), but there was no serious complication.
3) There was no change of BUN,.creatinine, and serum electrolytes after administration of Debrisoquin.
4) The addition of hydrochlorothiazide resulted in additional reduction´ of blood pressure -and improvement of generalized edema .and postural dizziness.
