A study of Nurses¢¥ Knowledge, Attitude on Problem Oriented Nursing Records and Nursing Performance


Abstract
The purposes of this study were to determine the nurses¢¥ knowledge and attitude on Problem Oriented Nursing Records and their nursing performance to identify their degree of knowledge and attitude in relation to their nursing performance.
Subjects were 227 nurses who work at a national university hospital in Seoul. Data were collected in July, 1983 using questionnaire. On the bases of these data, the following findings were observed; 1) The mean score of knowledge on PONR is 11.89¡¾2.872 of 18. 2) The mean score of attitude on PONR is 32.489¡¾5.855 of 50.
3) The 5 mean scores of nursing performance were 55.670+6.911 of 65 in General Nursing Practice, 44.423¡¾6.519 of 55 in Interpersonal Relation, 25.454¡¾5.411 of 35 in Independent Activity, 28.092¡¾4.641 of 35 in Unit Management Activity, 22.819¡¾4.386 of 30 in Implementing Nursing Process.
4) The nurses who practice the PONR have more knowledge than who don¢¥t. (p<0. 01) 5) There is not significant difference in nurses attitude between the nurses who practice the PONR and the nurses who don¢¥t. (p>0.05)
6) The degrees of nursing performance score of nurses in 5 nursing performance areas were not differed by the practice of PONR. (p>0.05)
7) The degree of knowledge has no relation to the attitude on POLAR; (p>0.05) 8) The degree of knowledge has no relation to the nursing performance. (p>0.05) 9) Among 5 nursing performance areas, three nursing areas have relation to nursing attitude; i. e, Independent Nursing Activity, Unit Management Activity and Impleme-nting Nursing Process. (p<0.05)
