Hypotonic Duodenography on Periampullary Lesion

Abstract
|

|
Author reviewed 44 cases of operative confirmed periampullary disease and obtained significant results.
1. Most reliable findings in the pancreatic head cancer is nodular filling defects on the medial aspect of duodenum, fixation or distorsion of mucosal folds and focal or generalized collapse of C-loop.
2. Most frequent findings are compression defects in the posterior wall of the stomach and posterior-medial aspect of duodenum.
3. Typical findings of ampulla of vater cancer are enlarged papilla with vegetative growths and ulcerations.
4. Impacted CBD stone can be easily diagnosed by edematous papilla with smooth margin and over 2.0 cm in its greatest diameter.
5. Still, to date, hypotonic duodenography is essential for the evaluation of certain periampullary pathological alteration.
