A Clinical Study on General paresis

Abstract
|
|
|
The author has studied eight general paretics who were hospitalized at Neuropsychiatric depart of National Medical. Center, from Jan 1977 to June 1981
The results were as follows;
1. There appear to be a decline in the age of clinical onset.
2. Earlier sx & sign of 6 among 7 cases, 85.700, manifested in neurophysiological sphere.
3. Of the clinical types, dementia (57.000) was ranked first and the next one, was psychotic manifestation of manic-picture (28.5%).
4. All case (100.0%) showed variable neurological sign & symptoms. It were slurred speech .and hand tremor (85.7%) , paralytic face (57.100) , reflex, alteration (42.700) , general weakness & unsteady gait (42.70o) etc. More active and careful neurological exam. is necessary in the general paretics.
5. Four out of eight cases showed abnormal tracing in electroencephalogram_ but no evidence of relation batween degree of EEG abnormality and the clinical state.
6. Other physical illness was found in 6 out of 8 cases (75.000).
7. It is strongly recommended that those of pt. over the age 20 manifesting variable neurologcial or psychiatric sign & sx should have blood serologic test as a routine exam, and also necessary of it repeatedly in pt revisiting more than lyr interval.
