Pigmented villonodular synovitis is a condition of unknown etiology in which the synovial membrane of a joint becomes diffusely or locally thickened, and formed by accumulation of cholesterol and hemosiderin.
We have experienced a rare case of pigmented villonodular synovitis on the knee joint.
The patient who was 23 years old man, has been complained of painful swelling of knee joint for 2 years.
Synovectomy through the anteromedial and posterolateral incision were carried out. A brief summary of the literature was reviewed.
