Clinical Study on Antihypertensive Effect of Doxazosin

Abstract
|
|
|
To evaluate the antihypertensive effect of doxazosin, 67 patients with essential hypertension were studied. .
Among them, 44 patients were evaluable for the study and the results areas follows;
1) The reduction of blood pressure from baseline after 12 weeks therapy of doxazosin was 26.9 mmHg
systolic and 15.8 mmHg diastolic blood pressure. ;
2) The efficacy of doxazosin therapy was successful in 90.9% and failed in 9.0%. In 35 patients with
mild to moderate hypertension, 97% of patients blood pressure was normalized.
3) The most frequent dose of doxazosin used was 4mg/day and there were no significant side effects
clinically and laboratory test.
This results suggested that doxazosin could be used as monotherapy in patients with mild to moderate hypertension.
