Abstract
Immunotherapy with a purified fraction of cat-hair and dander extract was relatively well tolerated in seven patients allergic to cat. Active treatment resulted in significant reductions in bronchial sensitivity (p<0.05) and skin test titer (p<0.01)
Furthermore, significant increases in IgG antibody to cat allergen 1 and decreases in IgE antibody to cat-1 in active treatment group comparing to placebo group (n = 9). In conclusion, cat extract immunotherapy would be useful, however, multicenter studies are required to confirm its validity.
