A Study on the Condition of Nursing for Skin Rehabilitation and Development Plans

Abstract

|
Development of machine civilization led to convenient human life and increase in risk of various accidents, and development of medical science and life science resulted in extension of the remainder of life, holding chronic diseases. Under such condition, patients caused by fire accidents or spinal injuries increased, and skin care for patients with decubitus on skin, skin grafting, laser operation, diabetes, and breast cancer is recognize as an important health problem.
Nevertheless, skin health care has been focused just on physical treatment in the acute phase and rehabilitation or nursing including its sociopsychological aspect and social role has not been considered. Accordingly, this study attempts to suggest development plans of nursing for skin rehabilitation to approach skin rehabilitation further widely.
1. In view of education, development of curriculum relating to nursing for skin rehabilitation is an urgent issue.
2. In view of research, decriptive studies related to skin rehabilitation, research on nursing intervention strategies, studies on effects verification, and studies on theory development shall be performed.
3. In practice, various intervention plans such as supplying nursing care for skin rehabilitation and health education, supplying emotional supports, nursing by team approach with various specialists, and studies focused on practice shall be developed.
4. In the institutional aspect, various plans including development of private certificates in the field of nursing for skin rehabilitation, creation of skin rehabilitation specialized nurse system, and inducement to establish skin rehabilitation nursing center shall be prepared.
Considering the current condition that type of the recently supplied medical services has been changed and demand on subsequent nursing or home nursing by earlier leaving from hospital has been increased, it is recognized that the development and extension of region of nursing for skin rehabilitation is an urgent issue, and it will greatly contribute to extension of the original and professional nursing region.
