Crystal Structure of a Genetically Engineered Mutant Ribonuclease T1 (His92Ala)

Abstract
The guanosine-specific endonuclease Ribonuclease T1 was mutated at amino acid position 92 from histidine to alanine (His92Ala). The resulting inactive enzyme was crystallized with two different precipitating agents, polyethylene glycol (PEG) and phosphate, in two different crystal packings. The crystal structures of both packings were solvoed and refined to crystallographic R-values of 15.89/0 for RNase Ti(His92Ala)-PEG at 2.2 A resolutin and 14.8% for RNase Ti(His92Ala)-phosphate at 1. SA resolution.
