Abstract
The genome DNA and viral proteins of Hyphantria cunea nuclear polyhedrosis virus HL-2 were analyzed. The DNA genome was digested with restriction endonucleases and then run on agarose gel. The genome DNA has 34 Sall. 24 EcoRI, 24 HindIII, 16 Pstl, 10 XhoI, 7 BamHI, and 4 Smal restriction endonuclease cleavage sites. The average molecular weight of the virus DNA is approximately 81 X 106. Viral polypeptides were purified and run on SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Three polyhedrin polypeptides appeared on the gel. The major polypeptide has a molecular mass of 25 kDa. The two minor polypeptides have molecular weights of 72,000 and 66,000. The viral capsid proteins formed five bands of 179, 137, 102, 69 and 57 kDa on SDS-polyacrylamide gel. The 69-kDa protein is the major capsid polypeptide.
