Three rabbit tumor necrosis factors (TNF) or TNF-like cytotoxic factors, which have molecular weights of 70,000, 43,000, and 17,000 on SDS-PAGE, have been partially purified. The three kinds of rabbit TNF exist as heteropolymer or homopolymer of 93- to 140-kDa proteins under native conditions. Particularly, the partially purified 43-kDa TNF-like cytotoxic factor, which has not been described previously, has cytotoxicity to L929 cells and causes tumor regression in susceptible tumors.
