Abstract

|
The complete nucleotide sequence of nJH gene encoding Fe protein (dinitrogenase reductase) from Frankia strain FaCl was determined. The coding region is 861 by in length and encodes a polypeptide of 287 amino acids with predicted molecular weight of 31,570 daltons. Comparision of the nucleotide sequence and amino acid sequence with those of other Frankia strains showed 93% and 96% homology, respectively. Intergenic sequence between WJH and W JD is 20 by longer than those of other Frankia strains. At 5´ upstream region, there are putative Shine-Dalgarno sequence (GGAGG) and nif-promoter sequence (CTGGTCACGCCCGGTGAT).
