Two Nuclear Proteins Binding to Hormone Responsive Region Regulate thyroglobulin Gene Transcription
Lee Nam-Taek
Abstract
Thyroglobutin (TG) is a precursor protein of thyroid hormone and its gene is regulated by TSH or cAMP at the transcription level. There is a hormone-responsive region (HRR) in the TG gene located between -171 and -140 and this HRR is recognized sequence-specifically by two nuclear proteins that are induced by TSH or cAMP. It was determined that the two HRR-binding proteins participate in the TG gene transcription by interacting with HRR as trans-acting regulatory factors. And it seems that the two proteins form binary complexes by binding to HRR competitively.
