Adavaces in Gene Theraphy for Brain Diseases
Joh, Tong hyub
Abstract
In spite of rapidly developing genetic engineering technology, gene therapy, in general, has progressed slower than many scientists ever expected. Gene therapy for brain diseases, although it has distinctively unique possibilities, has moved much slower than that for other diseases, because of the complexity and many unknown characteristic properties and functions of the human brain. However, several brain diseases have been investigated for many years and gene therapy for these well-characterized diseases is underway. In the present minireview, the author planned to summarize the progress of gene therapy for a well-characterized degenerative disease, Parkinson¢¥s disease.
