Organization and Nucleotide Sequence of Genes in the Four-minute Region of Escherichia coli Chromosome

Abstract

In the process of studying the control mechanism of gInD (gene for uridylyl transferaseuridylyl removing enzyme) in Escherichia coli, we sequenced the nucleotides in the upstream region of glnD. From the sequence data, we could localize map (gene for methionine aminopeptidase) in the 5¢¥ upstream region of glnD and also rpsB in the 5¢¥ upstream to map. This completes the genetic map in the four-minute region of Escherichia coli chromosome, as tsf-rpsB-map glnD. And the trancriptional direction of map and g1nD is found to be opposite to that of tsf and rpsB.
