This study was designed to investigate the effects of aqua-acupuncture containing with Hirudo nipponica Whitman (AA-H) and Carthamus tinctorius L.(AA-C) on the intravascular coagulation induced by endotoxin in rats.
Twenty-four Sprague Dawleys(body weight, 200~300g) were used and divided 2 groups: normal group(n=6); no intravascular coagulation and experimental group(n=18); intravascular coagulation induced by injecting endotoxin 0.4 mg/kg into the caudal vein of rats. Experimental groups were divided 3 groups: control group(n=6); treated with endotoxin only, on the 1 hour after endotoxin injection, AA-H group(n=6); injection of 0.3 §¢ aqua-acupuncture solution containing with Hirudo nipponica Whitman on both Samumgyo(SP6) respectively, AA-C group; injection of 0.3 §¢ aqua-acupuncture solution containing with Carthamus tinctorius L. to the same sites as AA-H group.
Four hours after induced intravascular coagluation, all of cases were performed anesthesia with ether and 6~7 §¢ of blood sampling at the abdominal aorta and then the number of platelet, concentration of fibrinogen, fibrin-fibrinogen degradation products(FDP) level and prothrombin time(PT) were measured.
The results showed as follows ;
1. The platelet count was significantly increased in AA-H group as compared with the control group(p<0.05).
2. Concentration of fibrinogen was not significantly increased in AA-H group and AA-C group as compared with the control group(p>0.05), and has no significance at comparing with AA-H group and normal group(p>0.05).
3. Serum FDP level was not significantly decreased in AA-H group and AA-C group as compared with the control group(p>0.05), and has no significance at comparing with AA-H group and normal group(p>0.05).
4. Prothrombin time was not significantly changed among the each group(p>0.05).
This results suggest that aqua-acupuncture containing with Hirudo nipponica Whitman (AA-H) and Carthamus tinctorius L.(AA-C) have some effects on intravascular coagulation. And so, we recommend further study about in and the application of Hirudo nipponica Whitman aqua-acupuncture(AA-H) and Carthamus tinctorius L. aqua-acupuncture (AA-C) in hemodynamic derangements.
