Literature review on the effects of acupuncture at Shen men (HT-7) on cocaine-induced reinforcing and behavioral sensitization in rats

Abstract

|
|
OBJECTIVES£ºDrug and cocaine addiction have affected serious problem in public health. In this article, we will outline the evidence from preclinical studies about acupuncture in treatment of oriental medicine.
METHODS£ºWe browsed through official publications and research papers including keywords ``cocaine`` and ``acupuncture``, ``HT7`` in Pubmed and RISS.
RESULTS and CONCLUSION 1. Acupuncture at HT7 reduce cocaine-induced reinforcing and behavioral effects. 2. Acupuncture at HT7 after a systemic cocaine challenge inhibit TH expression in the VTA and c-Fos expression in the NAc.
