Study on the Methods of Maintenance and Multiplication of Artificial Autotetraploid of the Cherry Beel Radish Variety

Abstract
These studies were carried out in order to obtain the information on methods for the effective maintenance and multiplication of autotetraploids. Cherry Bell variety of radish having useful characters. The results obtained are summarized as follows:
1) The quality of tetraploid seeds produced was smaller (63.39%) than that of diploid when the isolated culture of seed production practiced. It¢¥s germination percent, however, was 96.78% and there was no difference between tetraploid and diploid. From the seeds obtained from tetraploid plants, 98% of tetraploid plants and some triploid plants were obtained.
2) There was no difference in seed size and weight between tetraploid and diploid. It will be therefore impossible to seperate tetraploid seeds with sieving method.
3) In order to select tetraploid plants from the mixtures of tetraploid and diploid, it will be better to determine with size and shape of cotyledon and leaf at a younger seedling stage, because of obtaining 100% of tetraploid at the stage with 2 to 3 developed true leaves and 75.33% of tetraploid at the cotyledon stage.
