Abstract
Two different VF mechanisms were proposed which may have important implications for VF therapy. Tf VF is governed by rate-dependent APID oscillations, i.e., the restitution hypothesis, then VF` may be suppressed by drugs that flatten the slope of the restitution curve.6,33In contrast, if a stable reentry is important in maintaining VF, as demonstrated by Jalife et al,1-20 then ablation or pacing of the main reentrant source may terminate VF.. Addressing these questions is sure to be an exciting area of research in the near future.
