Abstract

|
Intracranial dermoid cysts are very rare congenital lesions that result from the inclusion of ectodermal elements at the time of closure of the neural tube between the third and fifth weeks of embryonic life. We report a case of a 48-year-old man who presented with seizure attack. Brain magnetic resonance(MR) image and computed tomography(CT) revealed an abnormal fat-like mass on the right temporal lobe. The histologic finding was mature cystic teratoma. We concluded that the tumor was dermoid cyst because some hairs were found during operation. We describe the case with review of literatures.
