Review of Physical Modalities for the Relief of Pain

Abstract
Objective: Physical agents have long been used for the treatment of pain. A review of the physical therapy modalities was done to understand the diverse physical agents and its medical effects.

Method: Review of the journals and textbooks on physical therapy was performed.

Results: Physical agents are used solely or working as an adjuvant for the relief of pain due to diverse causes.
Conclusion: The understanding of physical properties of therapeutic modalities is critical to both the physician and the patient.
