Abstract
Epidural injection, along with the stellate ganglion block, is one of the most common nerve block procedures performed in pain clinics. It is not only an effective method of pain control, but is also useful for the diagnosis and prognosis of various pain symptoms. An important feature of the epidural injection is its ability to block autonomic, sensory, and motor fibers synchronously, while also being able to block segmentally with lasting effects. An overview of the indications, physiologic effects and methodological aspects of epidural block is presented.
