Abstract
Objective: This study is designed to see the effect and the safety of Rheumastop¢ç plaster, a topical diclofenac, compared to Toraren¢ç cream used in musculoskeletal pain.

Method: Sixty-seven clinically verified musculoskeletal disease patients were divided into two groups: the test group applied 1 sheet of Rheumastop¢ç plaster containing 120 mg/sheet of diclofenac, and the comparison group applied Toraren¢ç cream containing 11.8 mg/1 g, 3¡4 times daily. Pain was assessed with the visual analog scale and pressure algometer measurements before the tests and on the third, seventh and fourteenth day of treatment. Routine CBC and blood chemistry tests were also performed to detect any variable results. Other medications and physical therapy, which may influenced the study, were excluded.

Results: Significant effects in pain relief were seen in both the Rheumastop¢ç plaster group and Toraren¢ç cream group, but no significant difference was observed between the two. Local side effects such as itching sensation or rash was observed without any systemic side effect.

Conclusion: Rheumastop plaster may be used to reduce musculoskeletal pain for patients having great risks of systemic side effects.
