Gene Testing for Early Diagnosis
Lee Duck-Joo

Abstract
Since the introduction of Human Genome Project researchers have concentrated to the use of gene testing for the early diagnosis of chronic debilitating diseases and cancers. There have been some traits of familiar tendencies of certain diseases and cancers that have had the benefit of gene testing. These include cardiovascular profiles, breast cancers and colon cancers. None of the diseases develop by any single gene defect rather it appears to be multiple gene defects thus, more genes need to be examined to further clarify the disease associations. Gene testing is mere a beginning of promising new era on early diagnosis and risk management. It is obious that single gene test may not provide clear information on how this person will behave but with the provided information clinicians should work with patients and their family to build a close surveillance system for the possible risk of diseases. In this article we will discuss about the current options on gene testing and its role in interpreting disease risk.
