Principal Biomechanics and Functional Anatomy Related with Low Back Pain

Abstract
Special interests of physiatrists in the management of spine pain and spine disorder are increasing. The understanding and evaluation of low back related disorders should be based on the basic knowledge of biomechanics and functional anatomy of the lumbar and lumbosacral spine. This article encompasses three main categories: 1) fundamental biomechanics including description of each nomenclature, 2) biomechanical characteristics of each anatomical component of the lumbar spine, and 3) functional anatomy relevant to low back pain and other related disorders. This is to provide useful clinical implications from the biomechanics and functional anatomy for physiatrists involving in management of low back and lumbosacral disorders.
