Principles and Their Evidences for Treat-ment of Hip Diseases
Rhyu Kee-Hyung

Abstract
Total hip replacement arthroplasty (THA) has been eval-uated as one of the most successful surgical operation in the history of mankind. It is no doubt that we can evaluate and investigate the natural history of various hip diseases just because of the remarkable development of THA, the keeper of the final door. With this understanding, we can compare the result of the interim procedures and historical operations to the natural history of the diseases. To date, many treatment modalities has been disappeared and some survived methods were used as time-saving procedures. Ironically, the importance of conservative treatments has continuously grown because of the relatively strict indication for THA. In this point of view, the author wanted to deal with the well-known orthopaedic treatment principles for typ-ical hip disease in Korea in this review: osteoarthritis, osteo-necrosis and fractures of the hip
