Abstract

The global outbreak of COVID-19 has brought into focus the need for clear guidance on the use of aerosol-generating procedures, such as nebulization, for the treatment of patients with respiratory diseases with or without COVID-19. Despite a scarcity of evidence, there is heightened concern about the potential risk of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in the form of aerosolized respiratory droplets during the nebulized treatment of patients with COVID-19. In this review, we describe the risk of transmission by nebulizer use in the era of COVID-19 pandemic.
