This aim of this study was to investigate the effect of emotional labor and life satisfaction among some dental hygienists. The survey was conducted among 300 dental hygienists located in Gyeongsangnam-do and Busan, from August 20 to September 20, 2017. Study subjects were selected using the non£probability sampling method. The survey was composed of 9 questions on the socio£demographic characteristics of the study subjects, 26 questions regarding emotional labor, and 3 questions regarding life satisfaction. SPSS 20.0 was used. Descriptive statistics analysis, t£test and correlation analysis were conducted and the significancy level set at 0.05. There was a negative correlation between emotional labor and life satisfaction in some dental hygienists. In multivariate analysis, emotional disharmony and hurt
was significantly associated with life satisfaction (b=£0.333, p=0.037). Organizational surveillance and monitoring were also significantly associated with life satisfaction (b=£0.254 p=0.041). Therefore, this study showed that emotional labor and life satisfaction has an effect on some dental hygienists. This can be used as basic data to improve emotional labor and life satisfaction in the workplace.
