Abstract

|
Ultrasonographic examination is the primary tool for screening intra-abdominal diseases including liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and bowels. In particular, due to its simple applicability and safety, ultrasonography (US) can be easily used for detection and diagnosis of a variety of liver diseases. However, accurate diagnosis of liver disease by US depends on the experience and skill of the examiner. US examiners must know the benefit and limitation of US and interpret the findings in the context of clinical background. To enhance image quality of US, the examiner should also have knowledge of the various functions of US equipment. In this article, several key points of US findings of diffuse and focal liver diseases are reported and discussed.
