Abstract

|
The surgical wound needs a special management for physical support, wound protection, absorption of drainage, and prevention of infection. Unlike in the past that only gauze and bandages were available, a variety of wound dressing materials have been used recently. Based on an understanding of the characteristics, merits, and demerits of the wound dressing materials, appropriate product selection can reduce surgical site infection and reduce wound healing period. Furthermore, this can be expected to improve the quality of medical care and reduce the medical cost.
