|
Purpose: This study was conducted to identify factors influencing the performance of standard precautions among nursing students.
Methods: Data were collected from 205 junior and senior nursing students using self-administered questionnaires during the period from August 24 to September 7, 2022. They were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Independent t-test, One way ANOVA, Pearson¡¯s correlation and Stepwise multiple regression using the SPSS program.
Results: Significant correlations were obser ved between performance of standard precautions and awareness(r=.35, p£¼.001), nurse¡¯s attitude(r=.17, p=.013) and safety environment(r=.40, p£¼.001). In addition, safety environment(?=1.53, p£¼.001) and awareness(?=.62, p£¼.001) predicted 24.1% in performance of standard precautions(F=22.83, p£¼.001).
Conclusion: Promoting nursing students¡¯ awareness of standard precautions by various effective educational programs and fostering a safe hospital environment are considered to be important for improving performance of standard precautions in nursing students.
