Comparison of Vertical Dimension according to the Vertical Skeletal Pattern during Lingual Orthodontic Treatment
Noh Sang-Ho

Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the vertical skeletal dimension changes and vertical alveolar dimension changes during lingual orthodontic treatment, and aimed to compare the facial dimension changes and alveolar dimension changes between various vertical skeletal patterns during lingual orthodontic treatment.

Methods: The study included 29 adults undergoing lingual orthodontic treatment with extracted maxillary and mandibular 1st premolars, who did not experience any adverse effects. The subjects were divided into a normal angle group and high angle group for comparison based on the SN to mandibular plane angle.

Results: Changes in facial dimension before and after lingual orthodontic treatment. The AFH, PFH, SN-MP angle, and FMA, which served as indices for the vertical facial dimension, did not show any statistically significant changes after lingual orthodontic treatment, suggesting that there were no vertical facial dimension changes during treatment.

Conclusion: There were no significant differences in the facial and tooth vertical dimension changes between the normal and high angle groups between before and after lingual orthodontic treatment. This indicates that the vertical skeletal pattern does not influence facial dimension changes during lingual orthodontic treatment.
