Abstract
The effect of petroleum ether fraction (50 and 100 mg/kg) and ethyl acetate fraction (50 and 100 mg/kg) of Tamarindus indica Linn. (Leguminosae) seeds was investigated in various experimental models of pain and inflammation. Anti-inflammatory activity of petroleum ether fraction and ethyl acetate fraction was studied using carrageenan induced paw edema and cotton pellet induced granuloma models in rats. Analgesic activity was studied in mice using tail immersion and hot plate models. Both petroleum ether fraction and ethyl acetate fraction significantly (P?
