Abstract
In the present work, One pot synthesis of noble gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and their characterization using aqueous petal extract of elephant apple (Dillenia indica) was investigated. The formation of nanoparticles dispersions were examined by UV-Vis spectroscopy. UV-Vis studies show an absorption peak at 537 nm due to surface plasmon resonance corroborating the presence of AuNPs. TEM analysis showed the prepared nanoparticles are almost spherical in shape with average size of about 26 nm. The crystalline structure of metallic gold was confirmed by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy and surface area electron diffraction (SAED) pattern. FT-IR measurement revealed that the polyols is the possible biomolecule responsible for the reduction of gold ion into gold nanoparticles. The present study proved that fruit-petal extract of Dillenia indica have the capability to synthesize gold nanoparticles and thus this green synthesis route makes it a convenient, cost effective and eco-friendly method.
