Abstract

Uterus didelphys with obstructed hemivagina and ipsilateral renal agenesis is a rare congenital anomaly, referred to as Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome. Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome usually presents after menarche with pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, and a vaginal or pelvic mass. Suspicion of this syndrome is important for a precise diagnosis; a laparoscopy is sometimes required to confirm the diagnosis. The treatment consists of vaginal septectomy and marsupialization of the blind hemivagina to maintain patency. Treatment relieves acute symptoms and preserves normal fertility. Herein we report a case of Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome with recurrent hematopyometra and a review of the literature.
