Abstract
Well-differentiated papillary mesothelioma (WDPM) of the peritoneum is a rare form of peritoneal epithelioid mesothelioma that occurs mainly in females and usually has an indolent course. No standard treatment has been established. We present a case of WDPM with renal cell carcinoma in a 52-year-old woman. During routine check-up, small amount of ascites in her pelvic cavity was detected. In addition, left renal solid mass was found incidentally on abdominal CT scan. However, it was not able to figure out whether the lesion was peritoneal tuberculosis or seeding from unknown origin carcinoma. Peritoneal biopsy through laparoscopy was performed and histologic examination confirmed a well-differentiated papillary mesothelioma. During follow up, she received radical nephrectomy under the impression of left renal tumor due to increased size of the left renal solid mass and pathology showed renal cell carcinoma. She was without clinical evidence of disease 43 months after diagnosis.
