Abstract

Adenoid basal carcinoma (ABC) is a rare pathologic condition characterized by a specific histological appearance. The first patient was a 67-year-old woman. No malignant cells were found in the Pap smear. No gross lesion was observed on the cervix, and cervicovaginal smear cytology reported reactive cellular changes with hyperkeratosis, with no malignant cells. The second patient was an 88-year-old woman who presented with genital bleeding for 4 months. Cervicovaginal smear cytology was reported as an adenocarcinoma of the uterine cervix. Pelvic MRI showed a cervical tumor extending into the parametrium and lower portion of the uterine corpus, which was diagnosed histologically as ABC (Ed-highlight-Please make sure the highlighted text conveys your intended meaning). from endocervical curettage and punch biopsy. No evidence of pelvic wall involvement or lymph node invasion was observed. These cases demonstrate that adenoid basal carcinoma can present with advanced stage, and that concurrent chemotherapy with radiotherapy is a feasible treatment for advanced stage ABC.
