Abstract
Intussusception in pregnancy is very rare and difficult to diagnose, but it carries significant maternal and fetal mortality often due to a delay in both diagnosis and treatment. The main clinical presentation of intussusception in adults is chronic abdominal pain, but the displacement of abdominal organs as pregnancy progresses results in atypical location of the pain and hence often causes delay in diagnosis. We report a pregnant woman who complained abdominal pain at 30 weeks of gestation but showed no definite abnormal findings in abdominal ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging. She was managed conservatively with parenteral nutrition and analgesics because her abdominal pain waxed and waned. She delivered a healthy baby at 37 weeks of gestation, however, the definite diagnosis of intussusception was not made until 12 hours postpartum. She underwent right hemicolectomy and recovered without any complication.
