Abstract

A number of factors are known to influence baseline data for clinical pathology parameters in rabbits. Therefore, the present study has been carried out to compare hematological and biochemical data between specific pathogen-free (SPF) and conventional New Zealand white (NZW) rabbits bred at 5 commercial breeders in Korea. All hematological and urine analysis data except white blood cell (WBC) count in NZW rabbits at 5 breeders belonged under normal reference ranges. High WBC counts were found at only D conventional rabbits. All biochemical data except alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in rabbits belonged under normal reference ranges. ALP levels were significantly increased in D conventional rabbits compared to other rabbits. These data can be used as a baseline data for hematological and biochemical values in NZW rabbits.
