To monitor cell trafficking in vivo and distinguish whether cellular regeneration originated from an exogenous cell source is a key issue for developing successful stem cell therapies, nanoparticles are increasingly used in different applications, including bioimaging, diagnostic technology, and drug/gene delivery. Thus, it is important to develop methods using nanoparticles that can monitor the fate and distribution of transplanted stem cells noninvasively for further applications. In our system, nano fluorescent particle uptake bone marrow derived-mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSC) not neural stem cells at an incubation dosage 0.1 §·/mL of culture medium. Furthermore, nano fluorescent particle labeled BMMSC can also be detected in a neurodegenerative mouse model in vivo. Our results are the first report that BM-MSCs can be efficiently labeled with nanoparticles and can be monitored in vitro and in vivo.
