Abstract
Miniature pig is known to be a most suitable species in xeno-transplantation of human organs. Digestive hormones and enzymes are associated with the function of gastro-intestinal tracts. However, the distribution of digestive hormones and enzymes in gastro-intestinal tract was not known in miniature pig. Thus, we examined the expression of ghrelin, leptin, resistin, CYP3A, and heme-oxygnase 1 mRNA in the digestive organs of miniature pigs. In the present study, ghrelin and leptin mRNA were expressed in the stomach and small intestine but not in large intestine. Resistin mRNA was evidenced in small intestine, liver and kidney. In addition, CYP3A mRNA was remarkably shown in small intestine, liver and kidney. Moreover, heme-oxygenase 1 mRNA was jejunum, duodenum, liver, and kidney. These results may provide the basic research information to xenotransplantation scientists. In conclusion, the ghrelin, leptin, resistin, CYP3A and heme-oxygnase mRNA expression in the digestive organs of miniature pigs were tissue-specific.
