Abstract
In comparative pathology, canine mammary tumor has given special interest because of their similarities with human breast cancer. Complex gland tumors are uncommon in the human breast, but they are found most frequently in the mammary gland tumors of the female dogs and in the human salivary glands. This study describes a canine complex mammary gland tumor with rapid proliferation. Staging of the tumors were evaluated by physical examination including tumor-node-metastasis system. Bilateral mastectomy was selected and histopathological examination was performed to determine the final diagnosis. Histopathologically, the tumors are composed of the epithelial neoplastic cells forming tubules of various size and shapes and myoepithelial cells. Thus, they were diagnosed as a malignant canine complex mammary gland tumor. On our knowledge, this case was very rare and interesting as a case of enormous mammary tumors with a rapid proliferation.
